Pros

We have an amazing leadership team on the northshore that is always resourceful and encouraging us! You can make a difference in someone's life, even if you are a BLS unit. They are always giving you opportunities to further your career and advance in EMS. We have some really amazing dispatchers that are always on point. I only know two by name, Coy and Blake, but we have several more than are awesome! Having an awesome partner makes a shift go smoothly but also having an opposite shift crew that are always on point, helps keep the permanent truck inventory spot on and clean.

Cons

BLS is constantly running but we can never make our 10 minute pickup or drop off goals, which causes the AMP score to always be low. Majority of this is due to intrafacility transports not having paperwork or patient completely ready for transport. SSN isn't on sending paperwork anymore and patient may not know it, which drops AMP scores again. It's discouraging when you go above and beyond but AMP score reflects otherwise. Some zones don't allow BLS to do emergency calls but others do, which kind of puts BLS in a jam when they aren't use to running emergencies and are dispatched to one. I don't think this is necessarily a con but BLS could definitely benefit from gaining more experience in this area.
