Pros

The teams doing the heavy lifting are helpful and great to work with. 1 or 2 senior managers have visions and are great to work for / with. Will help you get what you need. A lot of potential but not sure if it will ever be realized.

Cons

There are no benefits at all in the first 6 months of employments. Sick days are taken at your own expense until probation is over. You need to put in massive hours. Terrible work/life balance. The overall product is built off very old technology and has been stuck together with bandaid and sticky tape. It's already falling apart and the customers are noticing. Any effort to improve the platform is squashed or ignored by most of the directors, who spend more time spouting buzzwords - "AGILE, CLOUD, SAAS, DEVOPS, BLOCKCHAIN", without actually knowing what any of that means. You will be ignored or blocked at every turn, guaranteed. Very surprising how some of those people got into those positions. There must have been a job raffle. Every engineering team works in a silo and they don't talk to each other or listen when one team tries to improve things, so no wonder the product is a mess.

Thank you for taking the time to review Accela. We want to address your point regarding our corporate benefits policy. Full-time employees are eligible for benefits from day one. Our employees enjoy a generous RTO (responsible time off) policy and we do not designate between sick days and vacation days. Also, we do not have a probation period. Accela has been designing and delivering modern technology solutions for governments for nearly 20 years, and we continue to invest resources to evolve our products to meet our customers’ needs today, and help them be prepared for any regulatory or emerging challenges in the future. We are excited to release our most advanced version of our software for customers later this year and appreciate any hand you had in its development. Thanks again for taking the time to submit a review.

Pros

Free lunches 2 days a week.

Cons

The new leadership and CEO are making bizarre decisions. None of them seem to understand the government sector.

Pros

Snacks? That's all I can think of right now

Cons

Where to begin. If you want to work for a company that provides growth and good pay, this isn't the place. If you want to work for a company where you can trust your peers and leaders, that's a no. If you want you work for a company that is consistent, guess again. It's a shame how bad it's gotten at Accela, it used to be decent. People actually used to care.
