Pros

Great in scheduling flexablility. You learn a lot about fixing things for other people, which will help you when your stuff breaks. Full time offers great matching 401(k) plan.

Cons

Ambition is not recognized. The person who is paid the most at my store is the one that has the most complaints made about him, does the least amout of work and is NOT the manager or assistant manager.

Pros

most ace hardware stores are locally owned an operated, so all of your managers know your name. if you do a lot of home improvement you will enjoy the discounts.

Cons

the job is based on customer service. the ability to communicate with the customer is a must. our largest customer is the baby boomers so if you are a twenty something be prepared to have your youth viewed as a lack of experience in home repairs.
