You’re the point of contact for complaints, logistical issues, or emergencies, which develops quick decision-making skills. Experience as a captain can lead to management roles in hospitality, real estate services, or operations. Every day is different, with a fast-paced, high-energy atmosphere.

Cons

Coordinating a team and keeping guests happy during rushes can be overwhelming. You’re accountable for your team and the cars—any damage or mistakes may fall back on you. Nights, weekends, and holidays are often required, especially at hotels, restaurants, or event venues. While tips can supplement income, base pay and career growth can be limited unless you transition into broader management. If runners underperform, you shoulder the responsibility, even if it wasn’t your direct action.
