Pros
Everything you'll read about AP's culture is true. It's a vibrant, stimulating, and meaningful place to work. But instead of listing out the pros I'm going to tell a story. The leadership at AP puts their 'money where their mouth is' when putting their employees' health, safety, and best interests first. Over two years ago, the pandemic was rearing its ugly head, and my career was starting to hit its stride with in-person meetings and momentum building. At the same time, my wife chose to travel to her home country to be near family for the birth of our first child. With tens of thousands of revenue on the line, my boss called me on a Saturday to tell me that he spoke with our CEO and that they hoped that I would cancel my work travel and get on the first flight to be with my wife. They were concerned about the possibility of me missing the birth of my child due to Covid travel restrictions. I took their advice and took the first flight that afternoon. It was a wise decision as I would've been subject to quarantine restrictions had I left even a few days later and missed everything. Ultimately, I was there for my wife and somehow won all those deals anyways (Clients also value people who have their priorities in order). Furthermore, AP supported my remote work prior to making it a company-wide policy which allowed for the flexibility needed to get through the pandemic overseas. While I hope never to be placed in such a tough situation again, the company, its leadership, and the HR team supported me in a way that went far beyond necessary. Loyalty was earned, not demanded.
