Pros

Acumen has a lot of potential. The company does very interesting and necessary work for the health field. However, the company's internal structure and practices diminish the morale of the employees and, in turn, effectiveness of the company. -I believe the people you work will heavily affect how you assess your time at Acumen. My overall experience was pretty good given the right people (fair, professional, intelligent, etc).

Cons

-There are known issues of nepotism and, more pervasively, favoritism that may not always be linked to qualifications and performance. -HR/Management seems to make an insincere effort at transparency; though the company has recently instituted performance reviews, any information on the promotions of team members are strongly guarded. This hardly elicits trust amongst employees that promotions are actually done in good faith.

Pros

Good exposure to health policy, allows you to get involved and to have a lot of responsibility very quickly. Coworkers are incredibly intelligent and kind people aside from the occasional snide comment made by data analysts who think they're smarter than writer/coordinators.

Cons

The salary is "okay" for the bay area but for the number of hours worked and compared to the rate other "consulting" firms pay their employees it's lacking. Work hours are OFTEN extreme, but this may depend on the team you're working in. Would often work 12 hour days plus commuting home. The issue with working late too is that if you don't have a vehicle you have to uber to BART, which happens very often, and that is not reimbursed by the company so it becomes a significant expense.

Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Sorry you had to take an Uber after the free shuttle hours.

We regret that your experience at AcuSPHERE did not live up to your expectations, especially if you did not feel supported here as an employee. While it comes too late to assist you now, the firm does provide resources to help address or troubleshoot some of the issues that you called out, including an employee assistance program. At a minimum, we will strive to do a better job of promoting these resources and services to our current employees. (Prospective employees can refer to the Benefits tab on Glassdoor to learn more.)
