Pros

Flexible times to start/end work but most things operate on PST. Pay is okay but opportunity for pay raises Close to metro and has parking available for reasonable fee There are some really nice people who work there

Cons

Acumen is an at-will employer meaning they can terminate you for any or no reason at all (and they will). There's not a lot of diversity (most of the staff is White, Asian or Southeast Asian) and most people seem fine with the work but don't plan on employment for more than 5 years. Upper management doesn't appreciate when employees advocate for themselves, they will fire you if you express any boundaries, personality differences with co-workers, express you'd like any change, etc. Please remember HR isn't your friend, they are there to protect the interest of the company. In employees contracts you're eligible for remote work after 2 years but upper management doesn't seem to like this policy and would like it to be removed so not sure if that'll change in the future. You're docked pay if you want to eventually be fully remote and when employees asked for more benefits (for example we asked for all the federal holidays off since we're federal contractors and for them to be floating to be more inclusive) management responded by removing 2 holidays and swapped them with PTO. Unless you need a job, already live in DC, and keep your head down and never express your thoughts on anything, I wouldn't work for this company.

Pros

Was able to spearhead projects and work on various scopes of work as a first-year analyst. Had a good manager but that can depend on the project. Felt there was an opportunity for growth at the company.

Cons

Need to have an interest in health policy or else work can be mundane. They required in-person and adjusted pay based on how many times you worked in person a week. New analysts were required to work in person 4 days a week. Senior management was mostly remote. Even though senior management was approachable, would have appreciated in-person presence at least once a week.
