Pros

CEO Eric Poirier has set out a mission that is both powerful and ambitious. On top of that, there are lots of amazing people here, and we are providing something of real value to our clients.

Cons

I agree with the previous reviews on middle managers. Promoting out of necessity as opposed to meritocracy definitely exists, although I'm not sure if there is a good alternative solution for that. It is unfortunate for the people who are managed by people that don't have enough management training and don't know how to help people with their careers. Majority of managers do not have enough leadership skills to anticipate the needs of the company and push forward a vision for their team that aligns with that of the company. There are a lot of great people not living up to their full potential. We are starting to feel a little too corporate. More and more processes are being piled on without any explanations. We do things that directly contradict our core values. There is almost no transparency. Information is trickled down to a point where it loses meaning and feels disingenuous. As an enterprise software company and one that is in the FinTech space, it is understandable that we will not innovate as quickly as other tech companies. It does become problematic when good, smart people start to feel unchallenged and disengaged.

At Addepar, we provide opportunities for career development, including managerial paths. We are continuously adding new ways in which we can support and develop our managers and help them improve. We develop new trainings almost every quarter. In addition, we have manager-targeted mentorship opportunities to help our managers learn from one another. We are trying to build Addepar to scale and to last. We set a high bar for our work and we take care to avoid needless bureaucracy, and we appreciate you sharing that, based on your experience, you believe we fell short of that. Whenever employees feel that we are not honoring our values or are otherwise coming up short, we welcome that feedback and are happy to have a conversation to clarify further. If you would like to have a more in depth dialogue with us, please reach out.

Pros

Smart nice people who are just as underpaid as you

Cons

No pay equity or equality. You can get paid $20-30K less than someone else doing the exact same job. They don't promote anymore nor give pay raises when you change from one team to another. They will overwork you and make you do work that is above your pay grade. This is a company that is making millions and millions in revenue. Welcome to our unfettered economic system, and some of the worst most predatory human beings on earth.
