Pros

solid communication from leadership about the company objectives and they are consistently taking steps to invest in digital technologies. there are a lot of talented people at this company.

Cons

downsizing happens too often, some really great people have been let go to protect the bottom line; promotions are rare unless you are friends with leadership. the best sales reps are stretched too thin but afraid to say anything and risk being downsized. asking for a raise is considered a red flag.

Abusive Workplace

Pros

When cool projects come through, you can add some good clips to portfolio.

Cons

I worked at the New York office. Advance Local was the most abusive workplace of anywhere I've ever worked, before or since. The management structure was unclear. My direct manager, who had never managed before, sat directly behind me and seemed to watch my computer all day. She didn't have enough work for me to do, but got noticeably angry anytime I finished an assignment before EOD. She also got mad at me when any of the other higher ups assigned me work, which I didn't have any control over. Worst of all, another older employee, who wasn't anybody's manager but was in some sort of higher up position, would constantly assign me assistant tasks (like running around the city to pick things up for her) even though I was not an assistant in any capacity. If I had another project going on, she would literally yell at me and berate me, usually in public. It's worth noting that I'm autistic and was the youngest person in the office by a long shot. Only one person in the office ever stood up for me, and had I known better, Advance Local would have been wide open for a lawsuit based on the constant yelling and insults alone. Overall, this is a deeply abusive, ableist workplace where the management structure and mean, hateful employees ruin what could otherwise be a very cool job.
