Good people, no job security

Pros

Great mission and good people. On the right team, it can be a great place to work.

Cons

Legacy thinking and risk aversion makes change slow and difficult. Yearly layoffs without warning mean no real job security. Legacy news outlets in general are having a tough time competing in the US, which adds another level of stress from company leaders.

Pros

The company as a whole really strives for diversity and inclusion. I always felt like I was taken well care of, even when we switched to full time work from home. When I was laid off, Advance paid for a generous package with resume coaches and career help people to try to help me land on my feet.

Cons

There is very little, if any, opportunities for advancement. Shortly after I was hired as a Front End Developer, those after me were hired as UI Engineers and the developer climate shifted to more code engineering than creative.
