Pros

Everyone is really nice, super helpful.

Cons

Management was always letting us be short staffed, high turn over because of short staffing.

Pros

Most providers are pleasant to work with. Pays well.

Cons

Management is terrible, plays favoritism, actively does not care about employees and treats them like a warm body. Allow patients to verbally accost staff on a regular basis. Unrealistic expectations of staff doing multiple jobs (outside of scope), am not a social worker and should not be obligated to coddle patients that are aggressive as well as non-compliant to care. Don’t voice frustration unless you want a target on your back. Don’t have your own medical concerns (covered under FMLA), they will actively look for reasons to get rid of you. You better get along with your direct manager because they are the ones who decide when/ IF you can be transferred. HR is unhelpful and only concerned with whoever ranks highest. Phony people have to repeat how much they care, when their actions directly contradict that. Management dictates everything while they have not spent 1 second doing patient care and are absolutely clueless to what goes on, they need to be in a cubical in an office building, not in healthcare. Building is dirty and run down with ceiling tiles missing throughout, with trash bins collecting water below, super classy place.

Pros

I personally work on 6 South Telemetry and I love my team so so so dearly. We have the absolute best manager (shout out to April Buencamino!) We are supportive of each other and are welcoming to the newcomers. We make sure to keep a positive attitude and help each other whenever someone is in need. We also are close enough to hang out together outside of work multiple times a year. I appreciate that I was welcomed when I first started, have learned a lot, and now I have the opportunity to teach others (we are a teaching hospital!)

Cons

The higher-ups have their budget priorities out of order at the moment. I don't agree with having absorbed the Montebello Campus since it was obvious that the main facility needed some maintenance tune ups (referring to the news of our hospital losing power after the rain storm in Aug 2023). Since then, they've severely chopped away at the budget for their staffing since they no longer offer bonuses and are cutting hours everywhere. I also wish we were stricter with some of our doctors since, as nurses, sometimes the best care we can administer is limited based on how attentive and responsive the doctors are. While a lot of problems caused by this have solutions, said problems could be avoided entirely if we had better Attending doctors.
