Pros

The patients are the best reason. You get some bad but the good make your shift worth it.

Cons

Administration dogs out those on the floor They don't care if those giving care gave families to support or not. They will cut your hours without regard. This Corporation refuses to allow the employees to organize and unionize.

Pros

The pay and benefits were better than most companies in the area for this type of work.

Cons

This company absolutely does not have your back. I was assaulted by a patient in the ED after responding to call for help after the patient had already physically assaulted two of the nursing staff. The ensuing physical confrontation between him and I resulted in injuries to myself. I was initially flat-out denied my rights under workman's compensation by Employee Health. I was told to use my own sick and vacation time to recover from my injuries and blamed for getting my injuries. I was treated rudely and disrespectfully by an employee with a reputation for such behavior. The persons job apparently is to bully and intimidate employees to not take time off, with seemingly the company's full knowledge and blessing. Only because of bodily fluid exposure was I finally granted help under worker's comp. Apparently, the risk of a lawsuit against them was too high to continue to screw me over. Turn-over of staff is high. Middle management run around like scared rabbits afraid to make any waves with upper management for fear of getting fired, legitimately so. Upper management is inaccessible and uncaring to life in the trenches. If nothing else, its a job until you can find someplace better to work at.
