Pros
- Professional Development! I have a lot to thank Aerotek for in developing me professionally and providing me an insight into different businesses and how they operate. The amount of training that you get through Aerotek is intense, and the people who succeed here are the true hustlers. In the hiring process, they specifically look for someone who has a good reason as to why they want to succeed because this job is truly demanding. They will let you go very early on if you’re not a performer. I’ve learned so much about staffing, negotiation, how to sell and talk to people as a recruiter, how to present myself, etc. - There are a lot of happy hours and team outings. It’s a lot of younger people/ some older Account Managers. But it’s a very fun/hard working culture. - if you go into sales, you can make a LOT of money. I was told that selling and getting reqs is not hard. The hard part is managing employees. - if you want to stay as a recruiter, you can also do that as well. You can then become a Recruiter Lead or even an Account Recruiting Manager which is less intense than Account Manager. - You’re surrounded by hard working hustlers. It’s a competitive and fun environment that’s not for everyone. But for the people that do well and have a handle on recruiting it’s a great time! - Some managers are truly awesome and one of a kind - Great friendships!
Cons
- Awful work life balance. You’re working from 7:30am-6pm every work day. This place made me believe at first that it’s normal to work that much! I also worked some weekends. - The Account Manager or division that you’re assigned to can either make or break your success at Aerotek. I truly wonder how Commercial/Construction recruiters ever hit recruiting contest wins. Recruiting for Engineering is tough, but you can make much more money out of placing those people. Secondly, some Account Managers come up with impossible reqs and expect their recruiter to fill their positions “no matter what.” I have learned over time that some reqs truly are impossible to fill because their requirements are so substantial that they’ll never be able to find someone who meets the exact qualifications with a very lowball pay rate (eye roll). In these scenarios I come back to my manager to let them know that I’ve talked to a lot of guys who are making so much more than what the req is offering. Their response is usually “too bad go talk to more people.” - There is a high school environment sometimes because everyone is so young. Can get a little catty at times. People are very competitive internally as well. Aerotek believes in offering constructive criticism and feedback at any chance that you may get, which I truly admire!! It has helped develop me. However, some people use that as an advantage to point out and make fun of your weak spots... not nice at all. - Yes there is a high turnover rate. My reasoning for leaving is awful work life balance. Secondly, if you’re not succeeding at this job and not hitting numbers you will be let go. End of story. HOWEVER, management has to realize that the Account Manager has to be investigated as well to see if they are coming up with decent reqs and following up with their client to get feedback!! It always made me so mad when I found a perfect candidate but never got client feedback because the Account Manager wasn’t able to get ahold of them. Here I was spending one full week wasting my time to find a niche engineer and all you have for me is “sorry I can’t get ahold of that manager.” - Benefits are not that good
