Pros

It has been a Forbes "best place to work" for over 10 years. Rated "the most ethical company" for the same amount of time. Full benefits, 401k matching, employee appreciation WEEK! They give away time off, gifts, trips to Hawaii or baseball games....truly a diamond in the rough of a company.

Cons

Every 3-4 years they have major shake ups and job positions are redesigned. Sometimes, your job title is changed and you need to scramble to find your place again with a new title....often doing the same work. Very strange. As happened to me....my job went away entirely and after 11 years....out. (Compensated nicely for it however)

Pros

You get to sell great products. Work schedule is pretty much up to you. Great training (at least in SC).

Cons

Having to go around and cold approach prospective Clients is not for the faint of heart. The lack of structure is hard to adjust to.

Be Prepared

Pros

Income potential, of course and the sense of managing your own business. My District Coordinator was great and really worked and supported my training as well as my successes. Agents can make money and there is good advancement opportunities for those who are interested in building and managing a team of their own.

Cons

Be prepared to go without sustainable income for possibly a year or more. This is supplemental insurance and is not mandated by law such as Auto or Health and as such is a tougher sell. Be prepared to make hundreds of calls, knock on a lot of doors and hear a lot of "no's".
