Pros

Great technology and industry-leading products. Agilent has the best research and development team in the industry, or so it seems from inside. The team nature of the field sales group is refreshing, and the 'never lose alone' slogan is justified. The pay is competitive, the management is respectful and still retains the open door and 'walk around' style of the old HP from Bill & Dave. In some places there may be too much management; but most are valid.

Cons

Communication between divisions and homogeny of resources tends to be lacking. (For example, a website with technical resources from one division may be structured completely differently from another division, and they are not linked together coherently. Too many internal tools and processes overlap and change too often, specifically with the complication of the new 'channel partner' initiative.

Pros

Great people for the most part, very technical, very respectful. Good work life balance if you have a family. Management is pretty flexible in this regards. Great for life sciences and chemical analysis since they seem to be heavily investing in it.

Cons

No career path especially if you're not in Life sciences or Chemical analysis. Salaries are claimed to be on par with the industry, not sure which industry they are comparing with. Bean counters rule the place with cost cutting as the mantra. The semi-annual employee survey is the only thing that seems to jolt managers into movement.

Pros

Still has some of the great old HP culture, soft corporate hand, good internal resources to help in the job. Agilent believes in work-life balance and allows you to have a family. Solid history helps.

Cons

Biggest downside is lack of job security as Agilent joined the ranks of thousands of other corporations in exploiting the cheap labor market in Asia. While it has helped fix the overreaching of prior years it has resulted in large, empty buildings with an air of sadness inside.
