Pros

The people I work with at Aha! are top-notch. Everyone is genuinely friendly and supportive, and they go out of their way to make you feel welcome and to assist you. Aha!'s onboarding program is thorough and enjoyable, and the actual work is challenging and rewarding. As a software engineer, I got to deploy a small change to production during my first week which, while seemingly a token move, was meaningful and provided hands-on insight into the development and deployment process. I just attended my first semi-annual onsite which was simply spectacular, and I am looking forward to many more.

Cons

While I've worked remotely for years, others may find that this arrangement requires an adjustment period.

Pros

I've been here for over four years now, and I can tell you that the company is serious about the culture and values it publicizes on its website. The high-level goals and direction are clear, leadership is transparent, and everyone is consistently kind and responsive. The engineering team is hands-down the best one I've ever been a part of -- intelligent people with a wide variety of backgrounds and experience who are nevertheless humble and kind. I've never felt afraid to ask a question or speak my mind. The benefits are great -- some quite unusual for a small company, such as a significant annual profit-sharing bonus and a 401K with company contributions.

Cons

I've seen some negative reviews lately -- I can't speak for their experience but I can tell you that it frankly has not been mine. The company definitely values hard work, and I've pulled the occasional late night or weekend in preparation for a big feature launch, but those are by far the exception and I've never been asked to work more than 40 hours a week. The CEO is certainly opinionated about how to build a successful company, but I have never felt that I cannot talk to him about any concerns I might have, and I think the company's success says a lot about his leadership style. Remote work does have some legitimate cons, especially depending on your personality and working style. I've found that I have to go out of my way to find social interaction or else it's easy for me not to leave my house for a few days at a time. I'm pretty introverted so that doesn't bother me too much, but it's not a lifestyle for everyone.

Joining Aha! turned out to be one of the best decisions I've made

Pros

Not only is the product fantastic and it's changed the way I work for the better, but the people I work with are truly the best I've ever worked with in all of my career. There simply is not a kinder and more supportive group anywhere. If ever I have a question or need help at work, I know I can ask any one of my co-workers and they will stop what they are doing to help. Everyone here is smart, driven, hard-working and fun. Company culture is always a big piece of the puzzle and many companies strive to have a unique culture that keeps employees bonded to one another and happy in what they do every day. Aha! has grown a beautiful culture of support, kindness, personal growth and balance. Yes, we all work very hard and there are weeks where I may work overtime, but then it's balanced out the following week when I have to take a few hours here and there to go watch my children at field day or play in a sports competition. I never feel like I can't stop my work to be a part of my children's lives. Even better, we celebrate our families quite often in meetings and in Slack channels. Not only we do know each other's role at the company, we know favorite hobbies, who they are pulling for in the NHL playoffs, even spouse's and children's names. It's amazing how much we all care about one another, at and outside of our work. Many companies say they will grow from within, but they simply don't. Aha! is the first company in over a decade that I've worked for that truly does this. It's exciting and inspiring to see my co-workers get promoted and also to know that I have the same potential here. I love that I am in the right place doing exactly what I love to do and that my managers recognize this. It's a really great feeling. The company is profitable! It has been years since I was able to say that about a company I worked for and it speaks volumes to the excellent product, smart company, and highly competent people that work at Aha!

Cons

I find that I actually work much harder at home compared to working in an office with multiple interruptions that forced me to stop what I was doing. It can be hard to recognize that I should stop and take a break more often than I do. That also probably speaks to the fact that I like what I am doing!
