Pros

the pay was a little high than average,

Cons

A months-long "investigative process" was fine. HR orientation was short and kept to about an hour and then my group headed over to the CDC where the group went into a training room and went over a pamphlet in total about 1-day but spread throughout 2-days. we spend a small portion of our 2-day orientation training monitoring the classrooms and spending a few hours in the room to get a feel. The 3rd day rolled around and we did online training for child abuse and neglect and that was about it. By the 4th day with no specialized training, no CPR certification, and little to no experience with the children. When I spoke to my group, they all confirmed that we were under the impression that the training would be more extensive and longer. We were sent to a room with another teacher, but at any given time our background can clear and we could potentially be left with up to the ratio of children to the teacher. Again with NO specialized training. Which I found very odd, especially for our front-line men and women who have no choice but to go thruoght the CDC on base. Why aren't the employees going through more extensive training to care for children within the first month while in training.
