At First Good, But Shady Things Are Happening In The Background

Pros

- Fully Remote (location independent) - Good Salary - 40 days vacation (but your national respective holidays are part of this 40 days allocated vacation) - Get together once a year in fancy hotel for a few days - At First Things Are Great... At First...

Cons

- CEO gives off a weird vibe & goes for goals that are questionable. - Hard to understand what the CEO wants in terms of tasks to be performed (other people I talked to within the company shared that same feeling of miscommunication and misunderstanding with him) - Questionable practices towards employees: A developer once had a laptop broken, the upper management told him to take days off from his reserve of vacation days while he gets a new laptop. (seems the management is so concerned about costs that they are willing to trample on the employee's holidays) - Random laid off for no good reason (a PO in charge of the backend was once fired because the CEO just decided to give the position to someone else, not necessarily because that other person was more competent than the current person) - Other random layoffs: 1 Week before Christmas a layoff of 14 people happened without an any explanation given (all the developers located in Brazil & France got laid off all of a sudden) - Increase pressure of delivery overall (on the Design, PO & Developer teams) - People feeling they mental health are affected negatively (personal remarks I've heard from colleagues) - An inadequate PO manager

Effective leadership requires clarity and alignment on objectives. I will work on improving communication channels and ensuring our goals are transparent and understood across the organization. Pressure on Teams: The increase in pressure and its impact on mental health is concerning. We must foster an environment where workloads are manageable and support is readily available. We have revised our projects and implemented KPIs to address both sides of the scale in 2024. Management Practices and Performance Assessments: Your management advice is well-taken. Continuous improvement in how we manage and assess performance is essential. We will explore additional training and development opportunities for our managers to ensure they are equipped to support their teams effectively. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences. The issue of nepotism is rather sad feedback for a family-owned company. It undermines the values that our family brought to this company while building it. The founders and the first employees are expected to be related; however, it has never affected our ability to judge and make decisions. Your feedback on the positives, such as the value of asynchronous communication and the flexibility of a home office, reinforces the importance of preserving these aspects of our culture while we address the negatives. Company With Untapped Potential

Pros

Great dynamics in the teams, full of skilled individuals and a great collaborative culture in the company. Enables remote and async work. Apple products enthousiast company. Great growth potential. Generous Days Offs policies although ruled.

Cons

Very Basic compensation. Limited trust in the teams. Pivots to often without clarity, notifications, nor explanations. No interestments/compensation to reward business or team results and achievements. Unexpected and unprepared layoffs.
