Pros

Great health benefits, 8-5 m-f overtime not needed

Cons

Goals are similar to what they were 10 years ago even though the job is completely different than what it used to be. Management has no authority over their people, no one enforces anything, when and how they choose to "discipline" people is very inconsistent. The leaders aren't leaders. There is no encouragement or positivity. Everything is negative from the top down. Most of the work is put on the few people that actually do their job and know how to do it well. That includes managers. They are already busting their tails to get their own crap done but when someone else slacks, they have to help pick up the pieces because there are only a few that actually care enough about their jobs and actually have the competency to know how to fix it.... Culture and environment is lowest of the low. There really isn't much to say about the culture. There really isn't much of one at all. In regards to the environment, It is toxic. The rumors, drama, and negativity is worse than a high school. The more people you talk to the lower your own morale will get. There is zero room for advancement unless you already know people on the outside and have it guaranteed to you.

Degenerate POS management organization

Pros

Being able to do whatever you want because management is so dumbfounded of the company operations. That's about it...

Cons

No direction what so ever to be able to operate smoothly at any level of the company. Upper management (directors, senior managers, ect..) play a blame game for just about everything. Middle management (plant/branch managers, ops managers, ect..) are completely clueless how to do their jobs, most of them have very unprofessional attitudes.

Pros

- not a popular or well-known industry, so they tend to promote from within - plant jobs are fairly high paying for little skill required - no nights, no weekends in branches/plants - demand never really goes away, wide customer base, many of which are critical to infrastructure - lots of people have been in the business for a long time, so in theory, there should be a lot of upper-level positions available in the coming years

Cons

- like most companies, always trying to be lean. Often try not to replace someone if they move up or quit. Our office has gone from a high of ten people to only five full-time employees. Somehow we still never get a bonus though. - not very diverse at the branch/plant level - mostly older males - tends to be a little bit of a "boy's club" in that people get friends and family hired and move up based on who they know - bonuses are based on...well I am not sure what they are based on and they are infrequent and rarely consequential
