Excellent, open-minded company

Pros

Treats its employees like adults. You are allowed to color outside the lines, as long as you know what you're doing and have a goal. Interesting tech problems to solve. Management is not just focused on next-quarter results. If you are a high performer, you will be financially rewarded for it.

Cons

Because Akamai is a flat-ish company, moving up in the corporate structure is not easy. There is much to learn, and not necessarily in a structured way so you have to be able to synthesize information quickly.

Pros

Work from home (Akamai Anywhere) Time off program (no set number of vacation days, just get it approved by your manager) Overall a smart work force with interesting projects Pretty good benefits

Cons

Career path is not always clear Generally they'll pay you as little as you can, need to be aggressive about pay bumps. Benefits are alright, but some other high tech companies in the area are definitely better
