Pros

Remote / work from home friendly Constant food in the office

Cons

Management is truly awful. The most milk-toast, lukewarm, lazy, unintelligent people ever. Their policy is to not address any problems until they have become too big to fix, then they make sure there is a fall-guy to blame. You will regret working here, it will ruin your career and make you dumber.

Pros

AKIMA offers various positions that are subject to the awarding and volatility of a government contracts.

Cons

DAILY OPERATIONS: Disjointed would be an apt description of the daily operations. There is little communication, coupled with a failure to strategize, this results in most of the workday being unorganized and chaotic. The company relies heavily on the expertise of their employees and has no innovation of their own. On the job training and mentorship programs are nonexistent. With a heavy employee turnover rate and an "every man for himself" mentality the facility struggles to produce a quality product in a timely manner. GROWTH OPPORTUNITY: The job-site is severely lacking in growth opportunities. Advancement is not promoted or encouraged by leadership. BENEFITS: The benefits package that is offered is poor, the co-pay and deductibles are high. The company also charges a small "healthcare management fee" for their employees. Adding a spouse to the policy will result in a one-hundred-dollar management fee per month in addition to the employee cost. AKIMA provides employees a SCA benefit to help cover part of the insurance cost. Hourly employees receive an annual vacation drop based on their original contract hire date, this has left many without personal time for up to a year. Should you have an appointment or illness you make take no pay due with managements approval. However, you will owe the company the SCA benefit amount in return to cover the missed time. The company will withhold a portion of your pay until the amount is repaid. Short term leave policy is available at employee cost and covers 60 percent of your salary for a limited time. WORK CULTURE: Constant shuffling of priorities and reassignment of tasks causes frustration. As is common with contracting companies the good employees get rewarded with a larger workload while others coast through the workday. The management team is very reactive and not proactive, company policy and standard operating procedures are weaponized and used as disciplinary tools. SUMMARY: As an employee one would struggle to find something positive to say about the organization. Everything feels very makeshift and haphazard.
