Pros

Best and largest in the industry in Alaska and Yukon. Very diverse and opportunities to move around within the organization. Relative freedom in problem solving and bringing ideas to the table in regards to improved customer service and better efficiencies. Great travel benefits.

Cons

Lack of communication between directors/upper management and field staff. Not a lot of consistencies when it comes to coaching year round staff and promotions.

Best Summer Job for Me

Pros

Meet people from all over the world, have fun on the job, earn GREAT tips (and don't need to report them during taxes), get paid CDL training, live in Alaska, become a go-to person for Alaska knowledge, lots of playing during your time off, plenty of time off to play, and plenty of things to do for free or for a small charge that others pay $100's to do. You can also request days off if you need them, within reason. They WANT you to have fun and WANT you to come back, so you're treated like a king/queen by management.

Cons

Work is seven days a week with about 1 day a week off, on average, but it's a random and unpredictable day, so it's hard to plan much in advance (unless you specifically request for a day off). You won't always make as much as your peers in tips; some are more cut out for tourism than others, and it can be hard psychologically not to compare yourself to them.

Pros

Encouraged to explore on time off, to do things with groups as well as independently. My experience within the gift shop was fun, friendly, met the best group of people. Made friendships that will last a life time!

Cons

Can't think of any, except, maybe, update the POS system.
