Pros

Steady employment with good benefits and opportunity for overtime. It’s a union shop which is a plus to me. Some performance pay.

Cons

Poorly managed. In the last few years the company has cut employees to the point that there aren’t enough people to cover for absentee workers, and vacations. Employees can expect to be forced over with little or no notice. An 8 hr. Shift can turn into 12 or 16. And weekends can’t be planned for family time since the company tends to schedule full or partial coverage almost every weekend. New employees have no pension plan.

Pros

The culture at Alcoa is very employee focused and the leadership team promotes work/life balance. Post split, there are a lot of positive initiatives to market Alcoa as a continued strong employer. Good salary, benefits, 401k and lots of development opportunities if you work hard.

Cons

No job is perfect, but this company is one of the best.
