Pros

Attractive job title, benefits, future-oriented manufacturing.

Cons

Pathologically disorganized, extremely poorly managed at the group level, dysfunctional team dynamics, no work/life balance. My job function, along with all of the aforementioned problems, went with the value-add company, Arconic after the separation from Alcoa.

Pros

Benefits and pay were ok, 6% 401(k) match and pension. The hourly workforce camaraderie made challenging work less stressful.

Cons

Poor communication throughout company, local management flipflops on intiatives and cannot stick with anything long enough to see it succeed. Union workforce has select few who create dischord and negatively affect hourly to salary relations.

Pros

Some truly wonderful people. Innovative technologies and products. Annual employee engagement surveys that are actually used constructively. Uncompromising, sincere Health & Safety values; safety standards consistently exceed minimum requirements. Extremely high Ethical standards. Practically limitless career opportunities, so long as you are geographically mobile.

Cons

Too much behavior and decisions driven by quarterly results and stock price instead of thinking long-term / strategically. Generally unwilling to invest proactively without seeing short-term payback. Will lay off employees to hit short-term targets, sometime only to end up having to re-hire again. A lot of lip-service to Excellence but not the same level of true commitment when push comes to shove.
