The factory I work at is very, let me emphasize, VERY dirty environment. Almost every part of the floor operation is covered in grease, oil and aluminum shards from the machines. You can get overalls to help prevent your clothes from getting ruined but you have to pay for them and in the summer you will be swimming in them. The coolant from the machines creates a haze that turns an already hot factory into an oven, you'll be sweating heavily at this place.
And the work hours vary, when I first started we were on seven day work weeks twice a month and before that I was told they only gave two days off a month. Now it's in a slow period and it's five days a week but they also layed off over 100 people a few months ago, so job security isn't very high here. And you can't start out on first shift, you have to bid for an opening when it comes up after a year of being here. The management doesn't always work together and want everything to be spotless and perfect. They also fire people over very dumb reasons and some of the plant act like high school cliques and can make life here difficult for some I've seen.
