Alcoa has excellent community support programs, and VERY generous compensation for their hourly workers.

Cons

Quality takes a distant second to keeping Bargaining Unit Members happy. While working there, a number of employees were caught falsifying critical quality data on metal used in aircraft. The responsible employees were written up, but the issue was thrown out because management wasn't willing to fight against the union through the grievance process. Also, because hourly employees are well represented by the Union, managers tend to "beat up" exempt employees for the mistakes of Union members.

Good pay for an intern in this industry Pushed us to create and complete individual projects on important research Excellent collaborative atmosphere for generating ideas and innovation

Cons

Little communication on post-internship employment Honestly, for having only been a summer intern, I couldn't find any glaring problems with the department I was in or the company at large.
