Pros

Alcoa has a strong history in the community. A lot of good people working here, working extra hard all the time.

Cons

Use to be a top payer, but now pay is less competitive. All levels of workers are over worked, over stressed, low people appreciation. Alcoa Business Systems requirements, safety requirements, Production requirements...one person doing the work of many is common. No work life balance. Union runs the place.

Pros

The pay scale can be generous if motivated to advance within production departments. Pay for performance quarterly bonus. Inclusive work environment.

Cons

12 hour swing shifts. Forced overtime. Loss of experienced workers, who, are not appreciated. Overtime burden on motivated employees. Mid level managers out of touch with employees on the floor.

Pros

Competitive salary and benefits. Good work life balance in some departments.

Cons

Personality of the company has changed for the worse. Forced ranking introduced last year, which is a big demotivator, even for those who aren't forced to the bottom. The future of the company is unstable.
