Pros

My office was flexible but not every office is as flexible, keep that in mind.

Cons

If you read the reviews, you’ll notice that the pros and cons often cancel each other out because each office or firm under Alera Group operates differently. Alera Group’s focus is on profit, not collaboration. They acquire various firms but don’t invest in building solid foundations or improving operations. Employees are often left feeling isolated, with some loving the autonomy while others despise it. My office was flexible, which kept me here, but if it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t have stayed. There is little structure beyond HR onboarding, the pay was poor, and there was absolutely no training. This company is not suitable for industry newcomers because they provide no guidance. The management in my region was ineffective, lacking leadership skills. Their priority was to make money, whether it was to take on a managerial title for a higher salary without real leadership abilities or focusing solely on acquiring new clients. If you’re hired, don’t expect clear role definitions. If you’re in sales and making money, you might get some recognition, but even that is minimal. I was hesitant to leave Alera Group out of fear because I thought I wasn’t going to be sharp elsewhere but I found a company that I thought was a great fit and it’s been great! A complete 360 to go from no structure to structure. I feel alive again. HR wasn't helpful either—they tend to report straight to your manager. Turnover is high, and the health insurance is the worst I’ve ever had. Diversity is severely lacking. They occasionally hire Black women to create the appearance of diversity, but overall, there’s no genuine effort in that area.
