Management agenda seems to revolve around social statements and rarely was competence mentioned when addressing new hires or management promotions.

Those in higher positions are not the most competent. They got in those positions due to their ability to be likable; microaggressions are at an all-time high in this organization. Functioning as a team unit only works if you are liked OR look like your counterparts, but the team I was on offered no support during my tenure (this was only based on the team I was on. I saw other teams really function well). Diversity is defined by male and female, not so much by cultural differences (unless you are of Hispanic descent). Growth is also contingent upon likability - the internal hiring process is not equitable for all.
