Pros

Hard working people, a lot to learn!

Cons

No consideration for people. It is expected to travel 100% of time. Lack of transparency from management, very obscure compensation process, mix of incredibly good managers and very poor MDs. AP lost its soul when they moved away from restructuring. It is now an average consulting firm.

Pros

This is my 6th management consulting employer and by far the best. All firms have a lot of very smart, hard working people, most of whom are a lot of fun as well. The differentiator in this industry is whether the MDs / partners / rainmakers give a sh*t about their subordinates, or they don't. Alix does. it's hands down the most supportive, proactive people-friendly consultancy I've worked for.

Cons

Same as in every consulting company: your work-life balance, how much you're learning, stress levels, etc. vary widely from project to project. I'm hopeful, at least, that 4-days-a-week travel will never come back post-lockdown. Often I was sitting in an empty client HQ talking by phone to my client team who were themselves on the road. You'll get far more "client facing" time via MS Teams then you ever will via airplane.
