Engineering leadership has some great ideas, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. The last few years have seen multiple initiatives that weren't seen through to completion. Most recently, the rollout and implementation of a "shift-left" initiative, having to do with quality and automation, has probably been the worst, leading to a lot of stress among the rank and file and several departures. Some of the engineering managers love to micro-manage and there is a heavy emphasis on numbers (even if they say otherwise) as opposed to people. The "Peter Principle" seems to be at work here. As another reviewer commented, I have seen more than a fair share of incompetent people getting promoted or rewarded, purely because of their schmoozing skills.

The product has many big flaws and proper staff doesn't to get things fixed. The culture is OK in some groups but in others its awful. Some managers are completely removed from the challenges presented in the system. They have no clue.. but they know how the performance looks to higher ups! As long as things look good to the superiors, management is happy. That is awful. Because of this, and the short staff, big issues linger on and on. There is zero work / life balance. Some groups are run like a call center with spying and micro-managing. You have to be careful to not say the wrong thing to the wrong person. If you like walking on eggshells, this is your spot.
