Pros

The benefits, PTO are decent

Cons

Their priority is buying up agencies across the country and then eventually they shut offices and push good employees out. The Kool Aid mentality is rampant and they are too busy patting themselves on the back for how wonderful they think they are . Your input doesn't matter if it doesn't fit their fantasy.

Lack Structure

Pros

Upper management and Producers are very knowledgeable. Good compensation.

Cons

There is no work life balance as you are expected to work around the clock. The team structure, at least the one I was on, was not clear and the producer took on the role of the person managing the team. Lack of training on the processes that the company follows along with the expectation to hit the ground running. This ended in over the top expectations, frustration, lack of team structure, tense work environment and a no one to turn to when the producer was over the top as that was the end all be all on the determination of your career there.

Let go of Control

Pros

Generous accrual PTO Affordable healthcare (but only two HSAs)

Cons

Mesirow needs to adopt the ALLIANT WAY being that we are now an Alliant owned company. I heard they used to offer more to their employees when Alliant was Mesirow Financial. Adopt the Alliant flexibility. Become more flexible. Let go of the control you can’t seem to shake and allow more flexibility with your Illinois offices. Think about your overall employee's wants and needs to create a better work life balance. People are dropping like flies here and the turnover is increasing as people leave for places with better opportunities and more flexibility. I was between Alliant and another competitor before I started and I should have taken the other offer as they seemed to value their employees more during the initial interviews. You have many many millennials working for you at the bottom line (and they're going first)– give them reasons to stay. The few people in control should trust and give their employees more control.
