Pros

Fulfilling position if you love working as a handler. Great for transitioning military who may be able to use their G.I. Bill while working here. Great people with various backgrounds and experience.

Cons

No future opportunity. No desirable benefits. This is not a career and like others have said, management does not have their act together. If they truly read these reviews and made drastic changes, I believe that MSA would be an overall good company. As one of the leading companies to have EDD’s, you would expect a lot more out of them. No pay MSA has been true from the start. This job can only be a stepping stone with 0 chance for longevity if changes are not made.

Pros

Take home canine partner, competitive pay rate (26/hr starting), and travel opportunities.

Cons

As a handler you will be overworked or underworked depending on your location. If you are in California or NYC you will be overworked and have no life. Anywhere else, (TX,MD,DC,FL,TN,VA,IN,OH,AZ,WA,NV) it won't matter what the pay rate is because you will get part time hours. They will lie and post FT vacancies, they will tell you that you will work FT, and that the "work is coming". I was employed 2 years and the work was always coming up soon, but never arrived. If you like OT and good labor laws, only work for this company in CA.

Pros

You get to take home a Labrador.

Cons

The scheduling department does not have their act together. I've been with the company for over a year and I, and others, get moved around different hours and different locations constantly. No consistency. We get our schedules one day in advance for the next week, so for a work week starting Saturday and ending Friday we would get a text on Friday. There is also a lack of structure and a lack of communication. There are locations that do not have a set guide as to how they want security to be ran and then get upset when certain things don't get done. But MSA will not have your back when this happens. You are thrown out of that location or get written up instead of them trying to come up with a proper solution to the problem. No pay raises, benefits or extra compensations.
