Pros

Great work team, varied and interesting patient population, good support from management, variety of locations/work sites available, benefits are generally on par with other hospitals/clinics, Management generally seems to be competent, and morale in my department and work area is good. People are treated fairly, and there are regular and visible employee recogniton efforts.

Cons

The same disadvantages involved with any corporate medical setting, basically....senior leadership is sometimes more preoccupied with image than substantive improvements in patient care...and you work with the same vast disparities that you'd see anywhere in the American health care system, particularly at the Abbott-Northwestern campus.

Pros

I work on a great team and we all get along really well. Our director is intelligent and fair and keeps us informed of new things going on at Allina. I think the communication in our department is excellent. I feel Allina offers good benefits and promotes a life/work balance.

Cons

It depends what location or department you work in.

Pros

Wonderful benefits package; really great coworkers; more support for innovative ideas and listening to complaints we had, as staff. Most of all, the management really implemented safety measures to keep patients and staff safe on the job, reducing injuries across the board. Uninsured individuals given no different treatment. Overall, good place to work.

Cons

There are obviously problems with select staff members, but it seemed like management was willing to listen to this, most of the time. One big problem in BHS is that the group therapy staff kept getting fewer hours, or they didn't hire new staff, and this was a problem for the nursing staff, because we had to put out many more fires that likely wouldn't have been issues if patients had been less bored and more engaged in therapeutic activities.
