Pros

If you are looking for a place to work that has a great environment, then this is a good place for you. The people here can be friendly and helpful. They preach a work/life balance, but I didn't feel like they truly believed it. There are tons of pot lucks and little social events to help stimulate a positive environment and atmosphere.

Cons

If you live in southern California, there are not too many offices. There are a lot of seasoned veterans working here and as they slowly leave more positions will open up, but you kind of have to wait for it. The training was not very good, at least for me. There was some web based training and some sit-along training sessions. In claims there are too many scenarios to really cover during training, but in regards to habits they tend to take the metrics and show you what you are not doing well, but don't have much time to really sit with you and show you how to improve. Management is spread thin jumping from one meeting to another. Their tactic is to look at the numbers and attack the issue once the problem has been identified, rather than attacking the source which is the training. There is a lot of time spent on doing these extra activities and things to motivate associates, when in reality positive support from management would help a lot more and cost less.

Pros

For an entry level job, in today's economy, this is great. The pay isn't the most, but it sure isn't the least. Management has actively coached and groomed employees here for success. The learning never stops. There are weekly classes that we attend to continue to review and learn new topics. Our VP came to our office a few weeks back and just sat and talked with us about what we did and didn't like. How often do you get your VP to come hangout while wearing jeans and just say whatever you feel? I would imaging, not very often.

Cons

I honestly can't say one bad thing about Allstate. I am not saying it is perfect and it's the best. However, if you sit and think about what work could be like, versus what it is actually like, I see no reason to complain. My worst day at Allstate is worlds better, than my best day at previous jobs. Be humble, work hard, and you will do great.

Pros

Good pay and benefits, especially PTO. All benefits active @ hire date. I had great coworkers. Company has integrity - they really do strive to take care of their customers. Extensive training provided.

Cons

Extremely high volume of claims, constantly felt behind, like I would never catch up. Dealing with angry, frustrated claimants all day was emotionally & mentally exhausting. Sitting in a cubicle, looking at a computer screen all day got old pretty fast, too.
