Pros

Tuition reimbursement Good retirement plan Decent pay Still has benefits Beats unemployment

Cons

Working outside of Home Office means lower status and opportunity. Chases off shore resource opportunities zealously. All new opportunity not at Home Office is in Ireland. Committed to old technology. Tenure of less than 20 years means no status. Outside experience means nothing. Petty tyrants rule the day. You will do your boss's job and you will not be recognized for it. You will do your job and not be recognized for it. Recognition comes from doing jobs other than your own, others will have to to do your work while you work on projects and will loose opportunity doing so. If you were not one of the popular kids in high school you will be unhappy here.

Pros

Good benefits. That's about it. Not sure that's worth the merger pay and 60 hr work week

Cons

Work load required in the name of customer service is incredible high. They continue to ask more and more of you and don't give you any more time to do it. Once your in a local MCO your pretty much stuck there. Home office is a different story lots of opportunities and easier jobs/work loads

Not the opportunity promised

Pros

I love working with the customers. When it comes to claims, for the most part the company does stand behind their promise and offers fair settlements. Occasionally, as an agent, you will have to step in for the customer in regards to lack of or slow claim follow up or unfair settlement, but overall, that is rare.

Cons

Management still utilizes a Good Old Boy system, constantly playing favorites. More importantly, their favorites are themselves. They make poor businesses decisions for the company and for existing agents if it somehow improves their own situation. ie they will hire a new, inexperienced, and incompetent agent rather than give the proper support to existing agents who have run and won the never ending gauntlet of changing requirements. They do this because it makes it look like, for the moment, in the eyes of corporate that they are growing the region. The problem is the majority of these new agents do not make it, which is disruptive to both customers and existing agents who have to pick up the slack without compensation. Additionally, production requirements are constantly excessively increased while at the same time commission structure is decreased; something that was NOT disclosed when Allstate was courting me!
