Pros

Good benefits...compensation to start is average

Cons

Insuffient Training. I started working with this company approx 10mos ago and the training was very poor. They sit you in a room and talk your ear off about systems you haven't been able to work on and then after several months of not having you added into NextGen, Xactimate or Alacrity, they expect you to operate with thorough knowledge. When you ask questions, lower management tells you that they have already gone over the material during training which is not hands on. You are expected then to manage a full overload of claims with little to no errors. Getting an outside adjuster is nearly impossible when you need one to visit a property and the calls just keep coming. Follow ups must be made consistently and turn around to settle claims is 7 days or you won't get credit. You are expected to meet impossible expectations of settling & closing claims with little experience and support and get slapped on the wrist for settling after the 7 day period when you knew in the first place that 1/2 of those claims should have gone to an outside adjuster but there are not enough field adjusters and you don't get compensated for working extra hours unless a CAT has been declared.

Pros

benefits, interesting work (though too much of it.) required to investigate and close certain amount of claims and answer the non stop phone. could not be done in the time alloted and spent many, many hours of my own time to keep up.

Cons

excessively heavy workload. needed to put in a lot of overtime though not paid for overtime.

Pros

Good work/life balance, benefits are good, supportive of education/professional development, laid back work environment. If you have a good manager, life is good at Allstate. Your experience in the day-to-day work environment at Allstate will depend largely on the manager that you work for.

Cons

Promotions at the management level are political, salaries are not competitive especially if you stay with the company for a while, layoffs are getting ever more common. The risks associated with staying with Allstate for the long term are outweighing the benefits. Talented employees are seeing this and looking for the door after a few years. Experienced employees are putting their experience to work for competitors and other companies.
