Pros

-A fun, social atmosphere -- your colleagues are all young, smart, and extremely ambitious -Strong teamwork. There is an evident "we're in this together" mentality, everyone wants to (and is expected to) contribute to the growth and health of the firm -Constantly changing workflow keeps things interesting, and you get fast (if shallow) exposure to a wide range of industries and fields -Extremely transparent office culture -- important decisions are usually made with a lot of collaborative input, and your contribution to the firm always very transparent -Flat office hierarchy -Everyone is invested in your professional growth and you get plenty of guidance and feedback both as you transition in to the office and as you start climbing the ranks -The firm is growing extremely quickly and has high ambitions for the future, so it's an exciting time to be at AlphaSights and witness/contribute to all the changes -Decent perks -- constant office events and socials, free gym memberships, etc.

Cons

-Summer analyst pay is relatively low (for reference, about 60% of what a large investment bank or consulting company would offer, but on par with pay from mid-small companies and considerably higher than what a nonprofit would offer) -In the long term, you aren't able to gain 'expertise' in any one industry or field, which may limit transferability in to other industries -Work can feel repetitive at times and isn't the most intellectually engaging (although, as I mentioned above, the fast work flow does mitigate this to some extent)

Pros

- Projects span all industries, thus you learn a ton and it is difficult to get bored - Fun, energetic environment - A fast growing company (seems hard to find these days) - Great out-of-office activities and events - Inspiring founders and senior management - Full transparency from day one - There are no secrets with company objectives or strategy

Cons

- Fast pace, high-pressure. A con if you are looking to just put in hours and go home - Growing pains. Company is expanding so fast

Pros

Great way to meet new people, everyone is straight out of college, friendly, and went to an elite college -- Money is decent if you make your bonuses (they raised the base to 80k in 2023) and are on AlphaTrack (double the incentive pay). Top performers are pulling in 6 figures straight out of school.

Cons

Tiring, repetitive job. If your response time to a client is over 10 mins, you get in trouble. You're expected to be slack responsive from 8-6:30 (and in office 4 days per week) so you really get no breaks the entire day. Management is (to put it simply) terrible. I used to think I had a bad apple manager, but after talking with folks across the org it seems like there's a systemic problem with managers exhibiting borderline bullying behavior. It may have to do with the fact that they're all 25 and are compensated based off of the way their associates perform, but either way there should be no excuse. Retention rate is absolutely abysmal, with very few smart, qualified people staying to the two year mark.

We appreciate your feedback. As you mentioned, we offer a competitive financial package and hire based on values alignment to ensure our employees work alongside smart and ambitious peers. In return, our associates are expected to go the extra mile for our clients and adapt their work schedules accordingly, including working outside their core hours when required. Our managers are there to support you, and we strongly encourage associates to provide feedback early on. We do not tolerate bullying, and employees are encouraged to escalate any suspected bullying to our HR team for further review. - The AlphaSights Team
