Pros

high earnings, competitive pay, young coworkers

Cons

you aren't rewarded with freedom when performing well, hours are unnecessarily long, friday optional WFH makes it barely worth it, plastic corporate culture, lack of investment in true happiness in their employees, lots of degrading cons are masked as "benefits" - you dont gain any specific or transferrable skills and unless you work and think outside of the box regarding skills you could develop, you'll find yourself at square 1 in an SDR role two years out, despite the job not even being a sales role (no, you dont get a strategy consulting gig after this). managers and vps all promoted within, some are very smart and nice but lack of external oversight hurts broadened perspectives

Pros

1. The work itself CAN be fairly consistent hours wise (dependent fully on team which you are randomly placed in) - Typical expectation for hours is 7:50am - 6/6:30pm in the office 2. You will probably meet some good friends among the other associates but it's honestly hard to sift through the people who think that this is the end all be all and treat Alpha Sights like greek life 3. Reasonable pay 4. Great location

Cons

1. Everyone leaves within a year. On my team over half of the associates had left 7 months into the role. This is largely because management is awful - the majority of people who voluntarily spend over a year at AlphaSights treat it like a cult and spend their time outside of work gossiping about younger associates. Situations like firing a high-performing intern because she wasn't "normal/cool enough" (direct quote from a 28-year-old manager), using holiday parties to drink excessively and berate associates about their personal lives, and gossiping about which associates they were going to "get rid of" were personal experiences but are felt through the culture of the company as a whole. When I left Alpha Sights for a better job I left respectfully and despite that my manager piled work on my plate and treated me horribly in my final weeks there. 3. The training program - You are essentially paired up with an associate who is a 2nd year to "train you" - If you can figure it out quickly and don't really need the help of the trainer what this turns into is the trainer competing against you. If they are insecure they will try to throw you under the bus for their mistakes and even text you on your personal phone. 4. 0 accountability for people who are unprofessional 5. If you are a high performer you will be overworked and promoted (with no pay increase) 6. Work is brainrot and you receive no respect from the clients or experts you work with
