Pros

+ People, Altec is proud of its family like environment. You feel at home. + Great for intern: you can easily get involved in other departments since the offices are connected. You can always ask to help on different assignments and you will be assisted along the way + You will most likely have to get your hands dirty and understand how to use basic tools, all the way to attaching hoses and welding. This is a very important skill for engineers but surprisingly not everyone knows this + You matter to them, as a coop. Altec wants to have loyal coops and currently has many engineers who were offered their jobs after a coop rotation or two, even more.

Cons

- Not exceptionally high tech

Pros

Family owned and just perfect for years Run like a small business and customers loved it

Cons

Family owns but In later years they have gotten just a little away from the customer first mindset. Altec is a lot larger company than in those days but that doesn't mean that you can't have everyone on Team Altec treat know how to treat every customer with dignity and respect. But that being said Altec is still light years ahead off their competition in every aspect .

Pros

This is a great place to intern/co-op. The environment is relatively fast-paced (as one would expect from a manufacturing facility) so you hit the road running but the experience gained is quite valuable. For a co-op you rotate through three different areas of the plant (manufacturing, applications and product development) so you do get a good variety of experience. For an internship you're only in one area but no matter where you end up you're going to be busy.

Cons

The commute was a bit far but over the summer especially there's plenty of other interns/co-ops around willing to carpool.
