Pros

Great benefits packages, great team atmosphere. Annual Christmas/year end gift(something small) and $25 Walmart gift card for a ham or turkey for the holidays. Flexible work schedule allows for school some evenings.

Cons

Hard to keep jobs flowing at times, scheduling issues with customers is a big factor in that. Staying on top of paperwork can be challenging.

Pros

Ability to do whatever you want, focus on lean is a high, a lot of opportunities to learn

Cons

This is in reference to the Birmingham division. Employees and production supervisors on the floor were horrible to work with. Not nice or easy by any means. Engineers were forced to come in at 6am as well as numerous Saturdays (when not needed). It was a very cut-throat environment, everyone throwing everyone under the bus. It was a union shop, so that doesn't help either.

Pros

-The benefits were awesome. Company matched 401k, affordable health insurance, and fair vacation policy. -Altec is a company that will be around for a long time. They are the main supplier of bucket trucks in the industry. -Wear many hats. Always a variety of work. Ever changing. If you're into that. -Good people. Most of the people are hard working and want to do their job well. -Pay. The pay was very good and comparable to other companies.

Cons

- Politics. It was absurd how certain people got preferred treatment. I knew of a time during a layoff when an excellent worker was cut in order for another person to take the job who had be responsible for the closing of three sister companies. - Instability. This is a predominately manufacturing company. As the economy tanks, so does Altec. I witnessed over 600 employees laid off during a year span. -Management. During a high level meeting, I witnessed a person being verbally harassed and bullied by another employee in front of their boss. No disciplinary actions were taken to resolve the issue.
