Pros

There are amazing benefits to working at Altria including company car, company card, gas coverage, medical expenses, mental health expenses, family leave, two forms of personal health leave, and college reimbursement to name a few. The roles as a Sales Manager is very autonomous so there are no managers or teammates constantly looming over you or your work physically. Flexibility over you day and time to an extent. You are working with real world people so the experience is very authentic day to day and not so corporate politics. Sales Managers are the back bone of the company therefore this role is really important so job security would be high here.

Cons

The company is no longer growing because their core product is no longer growing. There are limited positions that become available rarely. You usually have to know someone from doing an extreme amount of contributions that never fully impact the business. As a young minority you will be pushed to the edge to work really hard on managing your territory of over 120+ stores, participating in 3 IDE groups, projects, or events, and also speak on your experience as a minority in America to unknowing "Americans". Altria attempts to fortify a Altria family environment to assist in blurring the lines in when you work and when you are going into overtime. The amount of work the is unofficially expected of you especially in state like Texas, California, Virginia, and Flordia are ridiculous. It has caused the company to loose many people recently. Yet they will manipulate the numbers to get you to believe all is well. True store there was a new hire who was within their first year managing their territory, two empty territories, two market projects, and learn about the updates for our roles. Mind you Altria does not give it's sales manager enough time to fully digest loads of initiative being pushed down from sometime 3 operating companies at a time. So you will be given information Monday and asked to execute the next week with little digestion and preparation for executing in stores. Imagine this analogy of being given a plate of food and told you have all the flexibility to eat it as long as it is done by the end of the week. Then we take away the utensils and give you a new tool like chop sticks to use. Then we add on more to your plate from two other chefs who need you need eat it. Meanwhile what you were originally told has gone so far astray you are scrambling to eat it. There's also the idea that they have switched to a team approach. Meaning you performance effects your team so now everyone is struggling and you are also dealing with the stress from your manager, regional direction, and now direct coworkers. Its can be a lot.
