The Leadership Principles (LPs) ostensibly guide all decision making, but they are just used by corporate politicians and ladder climbers. This is not a customer obsessed organization by any means, despite what the kool-aid drinkers will tell you. Amazon loves to build all tools internally rather than purchasing competent, functional software, so all systems are running on third-rate garbage tech stacks which makes the day-to-day just that much more obnoxious.
