Pros

Pulling up to an address, putting the parking break up, turning the car off, sorting thru/ or grabbing the “package” of the address, opening the door, jumping down, closing the door, locking the door, leaving he package at the door (sprinting or walking), knocking and/or ringing, then calling to leave a message or/and send a text, then running back to the van and repeating this between 150 to 200 times a day is a relaxing competitive day. You know what to expect and it feels instinctively finished before you begin. The job is a great “feel” being what it is. I felt like I was running around on a playground throughout my routes, making it a great amusement.

Cons

Personal judgment V.S. Company procedure really mind F’s you when you have to put your seatbelt on going 5 miles an hour to the house at the end of the street from the your last stop, nothing that bad can happen. Their procedure puts a lot of wear and tear on the vans and though I shouldn’t care because it isn’t coming out of my personal pocket, it makes you wonder what it costs to replace and maintain the vans. The company point system based on the driver cam is useless to personal awareness and puts my personal judgement against me. It’s not a thinking job outside of being a soft driver. Sometimes you care too much about making the delivery and as you get back in the van, it’s sitting there without the quality of a receiving human, you feel that on the inside. Or some fat persons at the door and you drop the package but you think about them bending over to pick it up so you pick it up and hand it to them because it seems rude to be that close and not hand it to them but you aren’t supposed to make contact with them unless the package requires contact so there’s a lot of mental wrestling happening when you’d rather show some manners because it’s not a hard job to hand someone their package if their looking at you from a foot away.
