Pros

Pretty decent salary Nice location Looks good on resume Get to work with some really smart people (doesn't mean they can manage well though) Depending on the category, the product samples can be quite nice

Cons

1) The expected work hours are insane and I'm not just talking about the 'holiday push'. I actually worked 70+ hrs for 6 months straight and that still wasn't enough really. Most of the categories are severely understaffed. The strategy seems to offer slightly higher than average salaries but require staff to do the work of two people! 2) Management is worthless. While I can say that most managers I met were incredibly bright people, I can say that almost all of them have ZERO people management skills. 3) MBA recruiting process is a joke. They had the gall to completely change the program AFTER everyone had accepted offers. 4) Benefits are horrible compared to competition.

Pros

- Amazon has really strong people that get things done - very little passing the buck or status-quo. - Very open to new ideas / empowerment - Relaxed culture and work environment - Strong growth - Good compensation package

Cons

- High growth means growing pains - staffing issues, no time to train, process changes - may result in overtime / burnout if not managed properly

Pros

Once RSU's vest, compensation is good. They will teach you Lean and Six Sigma skills. You have opportunities to make changes with frugal limitations.

Cons

No work life balance. You work at Amazon, it is your life. Not enough managers to handle all the issues. Software developers in different parts of the country will make changes that shut down warehouse systems which puts customer orders at risk. Software/system infracture is outdated and is not useful. No suppport from SME's in how to use the system. Basically it is all trial and error. 90% or more of the managers dislike their job and are just waiting for their RSU's to vest before they quit. Transportation, engineering, software, and operations have no communication.
