Pros

* Strong product culture: one of the best in tech, actually. If you've read Inspired by Marty Cagan, Amazon is a good representation. * Great leadership: Amazons managers are great to work with and learn from. As a whole, the company truly lives up to its principles at every level of the organization, every day. * Seattle is a central location for big tech - Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Facebook, Expedia, Zillow, Redfin, Tableau, and Nanostring to name the more notable. * Opportunities abound: If you're a high performer, you'll never get bored here. From robotics to fligh logistics to streaming media - there's always a new problem. And leaders expect and encourage mobility. My objective within the next two years is to take a position overseas.

Cons

Work/life balance - this is not the place to work if you're expecting a strict 9-to-5 schedule. True ownership of results comes at a price. That said, I find it very easy to have work/life "harmony"

Pros

1. Amazon unleashed creativity of individuals in every role 2. Amazon has tonnes of challenging problems to solve 3. People love projects they work on, if they don't, they easily find ones they love 4. Managers are invested in people's growth, if they are not, team members can choose new teams and move on in a jiffy 5. Salary and Perks are best (see its not #1 in this list) 6. Ample growth opportunities 7. Exposure to international teams, global culture, most projects amazonian work require them to work with teams across US, EU, JP etc and they travel often 8. TPM job is all about influencing, working with teams, empathizing, absorbing and churning lot of technical information, proving your value, it can be pros and cons both. Take it as a challenge for each project you work on or see it as a constantly ongoing rigor. Its how you look at it.

Cons

1. Technology/Domain is complex, can be overwhelming to learn, takes time, so take it easy 2. If not organized, hard to get things done 3. People need to write lot of documents, so develop habit of churning good quality, clear concise, documents if not already

Pros

Innovation Still an engineering company Smart workforce

Cons

Its a big ship (lots of opportunity), but you can get lost. Culture doesn't support inclusiveness, you have to be self motivated Be ready to push back. Whoever pushes back harder wins. Team culture and leadership style varies significantly; from cut throat to setup for success.
