Not a great work environment

Pros

You'll gain valuable skills, meet intelligent and hard-working coworkers and will be well compensated for your time.

Cons

The work life balance is non-existent and you'll constantly be in a stressful or cut-throat environment. While the pros are there, I don't recommend staying at Amazon for a long period of time without expecting health repercussions of handling incredibly high stress for long periods of time.

Pros

A lot of opportunities to innovate A lot of opportunity to fail fast It is stable job and there is a low risk of job loss

Cons

Very politically oriented and difficult to move up the ladder in corporate. The company does not promote and pay well internally to move up You need to come in at a high salary to get paid well Worked crazy hours all the time

Not the worst. Far from the best.

Pros

Good experience to be had here, especially if you are willing to seek it out yourself. So many projects to be a part of that you can get a bit of a start-up vibe, that your team is doing something meaningful for the larger Amazon ecosystem. I think "Amazon" still looks good on the resume?

Cons

A lot of blockers that come with a big company show up here. It can be difficult to locate owners of programs / projects. The team I was on didn't seem to care about its employees any deeper than a superficial level. Morale was extremely low across our organization with little effort being made to improve it. You can feel quite expendable, both in the way management talks about its employees and the company policies in place.
