Pros

Great pay, high visibility projects, record breaking speed, you'll never work for a company that has its hands in so many different areas, flexibility to move around and try new things

Cons

Zero work/life balance, lack of thoughtful leaders, zero support structure for mid-level managers, growth and development is based on your ability to own it

Pros

Autonomy- no one is going to tell you how to do your job. You decide the best way. Business process - Amazon has a different way of doing things. Yes, they do write 1-6 page documents to prepare for meetings rather than putting thoughts into a PowerPoint presentation. Then they spend the first 10-20 minutes of the meeting quietly reading it. Yes, they do encourage healthy debate to a level that makes a lot of people uncomfortable. In the end this makes for better business decisions. Mobility - once you've been here for a year and had a decent review, it's very easy to move around.

Cons

Autonomy- no one is going to tell you how to do your job. You don't get a whole lot of guidance. It's sort of trial by fire's Career development - this is pretty much up to you Varying culture - the culture can be vastly different based on the team you're on. It can range from nearly as bad as the media makes it out to be to a fun startup environment

Pros

Pay & inter-company mobility. Diversity of businesses. Cache of Amazon name. Lots of talented people gathered in one place. Opportunities to build your network, find mentors and be a mentor.

Cons

Experience is completely dependent on direct management. Know many who are very satisfied. Know more that are stress ridden, constantly under the gun and desperately unhappy but feel stuck because of the compensation. Consider the bonus hazard pay, especially if you are a woman. Very misogynistic workplace. Midlevel managers don't take this seriously. I found my job role unchallenging and monotonous. I know others at same level and job role feel the opposite. Lack of job parity across the org. My advice is to ask a thousand questions about the role you will be walking into and take promised changes with a grain of salt. Large turnover is disheartening and leads to constant team rebuilding. Leads to over reliance on individual performance and expectations to go above and beyond as a constant state of affairs. Teamwork and collaboration are undervalued.
