* Surrounded by smart people * Get to work on large systems that directly impact millions of users

Cons

* Very manager-dependent experience. You can have a great or terrible experience depending on the competency or temperament of your manager * Difficult promotion process. Tenure or skill matter little, you mainly get promoted if you are given the opportunities to get the right datapoints.

The pay, growth opportunities, get to learn a lot.

Cons

On an average everyone in the team works from 10 am to way past midnight, 7 days a week. I have known people working till 5am on certain days. People talk a lot about work life balance painfully oblivious to how toxic the work culture is. And you can't really blame a manger, the mechanisms and required LPs in every quarter, campaigns being tracked by different L8s ensure everyone is perpetually overworked.
