Pros

Amazon is a great school to learn how to run a business and excel at it at the WW scale. You can flex your learning muscle and insist on the highest standards, you control about 70% of your career and growth and will have plenty of opportunities to shine and move horizontally.

Cons

I believe as one of the biggest, if not the biggest, private company in the world, it should focus more on employees compensation, motivation and wellbeing

Pros

AWS still operates like a relatively small company, with lots of leeway for people to think in most areas. Pay is really good and the atmosphere is collaborative. Moving around and having a "choose your own adventure" style career is really doable.

Cons

Amazon's Leadership Principles are all the rage and people will throw them out if they don't have good ideas in order to beat back resistance. They're starting to implement non-productive bureaucracy as they deal with increased scope while trying to avoid actual bureaucracy.
